Who has your heart? With whom are our thoughts? Of whom do we love to converse? Whos has our warmest affections and our best energies? The things we once hated, we now love; and the things we once loved, we hate. The pride becomes meek and lonely in heart. We thought it was only a deal but since we're cut into pieces.

Time passes by but we only ignore it. We don't consider our way to be published by others. Seems, I who cannot give any exact exemplifications, I do also belong in the circle. We're not merely perfect, good, sounds great and most of all, as a result of not having them, we deeply put ourselves on hurt. Harming our own soul, for every word of doubt we utter is inviting temptations. When someone ie really crazy about the things around him, he tend to borrow trouble. Our minds are continually dwelling upon somthing disagreeable. But others say, grab all the things you can except my life.

Thinking of what, how and where means passive questioning to your own self. With the moody marked word, impulse, we are wondering how these beat put an action to our intentions.This may vary to our acts and moves but it depends to whom.

An instance of having a symphaty must already mix with better insight to a particular situation. We know that when the heart is too weighted down with pain, it wants to give up. A feeling of dreary to someone else.

Then, who has your heart? Knock your own door open it at your own show the answer.

Love is in the Air!

Any month is a special month of love though we always believe that February is. Each day can be a time not onlu for sweet lovers like the the romantic Romeo and Juliet kind but also for the "loveless" and "singles". A "loveless" person doesn't necessarily mean a person not having an intimate relationship with the opposite sex. Being single doesn't always mean that we have to be lonely.

The celebration of valentines day is common to human relations that are truthful and genuine where warmth care anf affection are allowed to grow naturally. This is true between friends of opposite sex, parent and child, teacher and student, brothers and sisters. February connotes something sentimental. Others ser a date. Some to give and areceive love gifts that show sweetness, flowers, chocolates, balloons and the likes. The thoughtful ones send greeting cards and love notes saying, "Take care", " miss you", "You're my special someone", or "Be my Valentine". Well, there are many creative ways of expressing of showing love. Though, in my time of the year, all of us could freely express that feeling of intimate belonging to our love ones.

The Measure of a Teacher

"The teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the student to learn is hammering on cold iron." That was Horace Man speaking many decades ago. The declaration has proved itself many times in history and is still proving its truth today.

But how can a teacher inspire a students? Does it mean spoonfeeding him or just the contrary? In my fifteen years of formanl education, a lot of teachers discouraged my by their indolence and arrogance. Yet, many pulled my hand just when I was about to quit. They have inspired me in many peculiar ways which are beyond articualation. But I can clearly recall they all made me believe in myself.

A teacher who tells me I should know everything before I enter his classroom tells me I do not need him, so that I lost my interest in his subject even before I gain my interest to listen. A teacher who tells me he never erred in his days as a student also tells me I am not entitled to commit a mistake, so that my mind starts wandering where there is a roomfor correction left the very moment he speaks.

Yes, I could take them as a challenge and turn the situation in my favor. But I wonder, what ever happened to the phrase, "no one os infallible", or still of the phrase, "he widest room is always the room for corrections".

I would rather have a teacher who tells me to go ahead and commit mistakes while I am a student than to commit it to a client in the field. I want a teacher who believes that learning never ends. Then I will be confident thast as in a dance, not knowing the fifth step will not cripple me to learn the first four steps. I will learn the fifth step as I go.

I am not really looking for an ideal teacher because I do not deserve one. I just wrote this blog as symphaty to those teachers who think their students are dumb, slow-learners and unteachable. They seem to have forgotten their philosopher who said, "The brilliance of a teacher is manifested by the caliber of his students".

Instilling and cultivating good operative and repeated acts or habits are the very essence of the human person. In the same way, developing insights and responding to them make us more human, a unique individual substance of rational nature.

Here are some good operative acts that we can emulate:

1. Lead and guide by becoming a model. This is an effective way differentiate desired and unacceptable behavior. Let us, for example, practice good sleep (no night outs), eat the right food (not junk ones) and dress modestly. Though some traits are to a certain degree innate in us, we derive our attitudes and mannerisms through the influence of those we are very close to or the kind of environment we are living in. We have to act according to the norms but not necessarily curtailing our freedom to act as we are.

2. Getting excited, enjoy fun, and pun. Of course, anything that is monotonous and dull will lead us to boredom if not idleness. It will make us disinterested especially during special moments like summer, semestral breaks or yuletide season. That is why we have to be continuously and actively seeking new and exciting things so to speak, celebrate life and make the most out of it. Activities like painting, gardening, stitching, or any work that sparks creativity and sustains interest is good and fun. Let us become more receptive and open to all responsibilities of life.

3. Generosity with praise. Encouragement and praise will lead us to develop self-esteem and confidence. Reprimand is good but it should be done in a mild manner, with a tender loving touch. We all deserve to be praised. However, acclamations should not go over our head. The more we stoop down we become more gentle in our ways. This ability to acknowledge others goodness becomes a filtering process that allows us to cultivate acceptable behavior; thus, fulfilling our deep-seated desire to be in "good standing" in the community.

4. Enthusiastically respond to stimuli. Let us remember, "in small things, come big ideas." Even how simple our work or achievement is, this does not matter. What is important is we have done something. Perhaps it will not be appreciated now but who knows, tomorrow it will become one great genuine idea. A masterpiece. Reciprocity is essential so that we carry on what makes us and others happy. Let us have the habits to become what we are by exploring things with enthusiasm but not forgetting our sense of historicity. Nagging is a no, but showing pleasure in our work rather will lead us to fulfillment.

5. Let us be realistic. Reality bites as they say. We have to have one foot on the ground and the other up ready to discover things without forgetting we are still humans who are vulnerable to mistakes. Let us remember always that we are both a principle of possibility and actuality. And possibilities are for real, nothing is impossible. We can always actualize, we are rational, we can do it, we can have it. It is just a matter of developing what is desirable and that which befits us.

Having high in college can be an investment for a better life ahead. Prospective employers will definitely not settle for something less. Although grades are affected by several factors, we still consider these s important measurement of students' academic performence.

Having a grade of 75% of course, is better than having a failing grade, but some get this out of mercy. What if they take board and licensure examinations? They simply cannot pass out of mercy all the time.

Mediocrity in the job may mean loss of business, death of a patient, increase in crime in the society, low quality of service or loss of trust of people in us. excellence, on the other hand, is equal to success and progress.

Our society needs improvement. We are in dire need of people who can run the government efficiently and honestly. We need dedicated teachers. We need businessmen who are selfless and who think of the welfare of customers and not only of profit.

Acquiring a degree is never easy but is we think of the prize we reap and the challenge in the real and competitive world after graduation, we will not confine ourselves in the comfort of 75s and 76s.

To the graduating students, your struggle is finally coming to an end. It has always been a joyful experience to witness a memorable graduation rite. Many would like to reminisce the day they were marching, waiting for their names to be announced for them to receive their diplomas, the deafening applause, smiling faces, the warm handshakes and the picture-taking.

The memory of graduation is not so much in the congratulatory handshakes, joyous faces, but the person crafted and molded white in school.

It was not that easy to go through many years of schooling, but you have successfully surpassed the numerous trials of college life. The journey into the academe began with usual unsteady ladder, which has become stable and stronger through the years. Mental, emotional, physical, and social stresses were experienced in order to overcome the challenges that came along the way, but these did not hinder you in reaching for your goals. Everything must be balanced or else, your world will turn upside down.

After graduation, you will now face another step, closer to your dreams, and you are now about to face the bigger tasks ahead of you. But the question is, are you competent enough to face the challenges ahead?

Obviously, this kind of rejoicing is only short-lived. It comes not a surprise that earning your much coveted degree is the ultimate end. The truth is, you are yet to face the tedious task of finding for yourself the opportunities by which you could exercise your chosen field of specialization.

On the brighter side, you will now be excused from waking up early, wearing uniforms, making assignments, and projects, taking examinations and paying tuition.

The worst to think of is, you may unwillingly become bonafide members of unemployed and inexperienced rolled into one. Such is a dilemma. Candidates for graduation still have to face this reality.

For all these years you were made to believe that having a degree is an edge over those who could not afford an education. Nowadays we cannot rely on earnings a living on our hand-earned credentials if nobody wants to buy our services, only because there are overflowing applicants for only one job. On the other side, people who have not tasted education would do anything in order to survive. Others would apply for a job not related to their field for the sake of having a job, others try their luck to the greener pastures abroad.

Having been educated therefore is a privilege because not all of us could enjoy the same reasons other than financial restraints. But such situation should be understood and recognized. Recognizing the fact may mean that we should be prepared for the possibility for we could not all be doctors, farmers, teachers, or lawyers at the same time. We have to face the reality that we co-exist with other people, who are also human being just like us, forever looking at the slightest opportunity to have a better and improved kind of lifestyle. Every one has the right to improve his/her lifestyle through many ways and creating further means for the people who have less in life to get better opportunities to improve themselves.

Life doesn't end there. You should explore more possibilities if you really want to progress in life. You should be resourceful, creative and try to discover our untapped talents. Who knows? This might bring you to the top. Moreover, try to attend some job fairs, which might give you a chance to land a job where you can exercise your chosen field of specialization.

We Aren't Really Lost

How's my mom and my dad? Who among you asked this question" Have you ever spent just one minute realizing the question or you're just too busy mingling and joining drinks with those people whom you call friends? Or living with your boyfriend or girlfriend in a house which your parents are paying? Students nowadays do enjoy going out of their houses just to be with their friends and enjoy staying on bars.

The only dream of parents is for their children to achieve good education and have a good future. Even how poor and hard life is, they see to it that we can achieve our very own dreams. We are their concerns. They work because they have dreams for us but have we ever realized their suffering and hard works? Are we thinking of them working the farm whenever we spend our money just for nothing? Realize it yourself.

We're lost. We don't care anyone, as long as we are with our bad influenced friends whom we drink and laugh with. We spend our parents money on liquors and cigarettes. Aren't we ashamed? Remember, it's not our own money. Its the fruit of our parents' hard work. They send thousands of money for school not for anything else. They are expecting so much from us but we really don't care anymore. We are lost, but if we are willing to seek for a change, we will be able to find our way.

Our country is called, "The Pearl of the Orient" because of its amazing natural resources. Tourist are visiting the Philippines because of its extraordinary beautiful scenery. But the country is still poor despite being rich in natural resources. Less fortunate, powerless, hunger, malnourished population and of course poverty...name it our country has it. Should we blame the government for this problem or should we blame ourselves?

The poor suffer a lot. Lucky for those rich because they do not think of what will they eat tomorrow while the poor own nothing. In other words, poor persons are really hopeless. If only Filipinos unite to fight poverty, poverty in our country could be lessened. Sharing what we have would be the best thing to do; and of course, fear in God. We are now in the state of crisis. It is now the time that Filipinos should unite to fight this crisis. There's nothing impossible when all of us unite and fight the biggest problem of our country. If only this will happen. And someday our country will never be the poorest; instead the richest country.

What else is better way to improve the country than produce good citizens? This can only happen id students like you and me will try very hard to contribute something good to our country. Let's make our ancestors proud by improving ourselves and ultimately improving our country's bad state- ultimate putting poverty behind us.

Often it is questioned what purpose mathematics serves in real life. Or Chemistry, when it is not even directly related to some courses. Or even NSTP, when I entertain no intention of collecting garbage for a living anyway. So why should any student bother?

Well, besides the fact that subjects such as these have been architectured into our curricula to breed us into well-rounded individuals, my personal truth is it is not about the subjects, but the attitude you have towards your studies. It is the attitude wherein you abandon any space for intellectual laziness and the attitude in which you challenge yourself to better than the day before. It is the same attitude which translates into the grades you receive, which propels you to a mindset that you would later in import to the profession you would exercise.

It is never to early to embrace such an attitude. I speak to those who feel too young to think about the inevitable future, as if college was no privilege but a burden. William Shakespeare's infamous line, "The day you were born was the day you started to die", is my design to acquaint you that in life, it is not to early to succeed.

The decision we compel is like the "Butterfly Effect" where a single flap from a butterfly's wing sends a gentle vibration, but as it travels half-way across the world gains strength, strong enough to create a tidal wave.

Fashion that to the decisions you make now, and not be obvious to its effects in the future. So I challenge you to make the right decisions, for no one else is going to make those decisions for you.

It is easy: change, and never ever look back.
